MAYOR SHINES
IN LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS'
PUBLIC FORUM

MOMENTUM & EXPERIENCE FOCUS OF
MAYOR TONY BENAVIDES' REMARKS

Four mayoral candidates, including incumbent Mayor Tony Benavides, addressed a crowd of about 150 people Tuesday night, July 19, at Lansing Community College's Dart Auditorium. The public event was sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Lansing Area and featured five questions that touched on issues ranging from city involvement with Lansing schools and discrimination to proposed downtown development ideas.

Each candidate had an opportunity to make opening and closing remarks, and to respond to the questions presented by the audience. Mayor Benavides' relaxed demeanor and in-depth knowledge of the issues, plus the breadth of his political experience and community devotion, were trademarks of his message to Lansing voters. Mayor Benavides' participation in the July 19 event not only clearly indicated his stance on the issues, but also revealed the deficiencies of those candidates who currently oppose him for the Mayor's job.

Mayor Benavides has also accepted invitations to participate in two Radio and Television Mayoral Debates over a 2-day period. These debates are preludes to the Aug. 2 Primary, which will determine the top two Mayoral candidates to face each other in the Nov. 8 General Election.

The first broadcast debate, hosted by City Pulse Magazine and Impact 89FM Radio, will be held July 20. WLNS TV-6 hosts the second debate, which is also being held at LCC's Dart Auditorium and is being broadcast live on WLNS TV-6 on Thursday, July 21.

All four Lansing Mayoral candidates will participate in these events.

EACH 1-HOUR EVENT BEGINS AT 7 P.M.
