MAYOR BENAVIDES FIRST TO FILE

Lansing Mayor Tony Benavides gives a big "thumbs up" while Lansing City Clerk Debbie Miner reviews and verifies information submitted for his 2005 Campaign. The Mayor is the first to officially file and declare his candidacy for the office he currently holds.

VERIFYING HIS STATUS -- Lansing City Clerk Debbie Miner checks the Voter Registration Card of Mayor Tony Benavides, just one of several steps required before a citizen is officially declared a candidate for political office in the Capitol City. Mayor Benavides completed the paperwork on March 18 and announced his candidacy at a lunchtime gathering at his Campaign Headquarters on Michigan Ave., across from the Lansing Center.
