KAM - A Collection With Many Hidden Treasures

Diversity has been the main strength of the Kresge Art Museum's collection of nearly 7,000 objects. As a university museum and the only art museum in Mid-Michigan, it functions to serve the university, surrounding communities, and the entire region. The museum celebrates more than 5,000 years of intellectual and artistic development with Greek, Roman, Egyptian, African, Asian, Islamic, pre-Columbian, European, and American works of art and artifacts.

However some of the works of art in the collection are unable to be displayed in the current museum due to the lack of adequate gallery space. In a new, expanded museum these paintings, large scale sculptures, works on paper, and photographs currently in storage will no longer be hidden treasures and will be available for more frequent viewing and enjoyment.
